About Socrate

Most students end up studying the same way: read the chapter, highlight what looks important, then read the highlights again the night before. It feels productive, but recognising a page isn't the same as being able to recall it in an exam.

Socrate is built to move study time from re-reading to understanding and practice — working from the notes and PDFs you're actually examined on, not a generic textbook. Why re-reading your notes doesn't work explains the research behind that.

A study tool has an unusual failure mode: if it invents a definition, you might memorise it and repeat it in an exam. So every answer in Socrate comes from your own document and points back to the page it came from, and when the document doesn't contain an answer, Socrate says so instead of guessing.
